Amino Acid Multi: How to Use It in a Daily Performance Stack

Amino Acid Multi is a BCAA powder to mix during or after exercise. Vitadefence Amino Acid Multi combines the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) — leucine, isoleucine and valine — with citrulline malate, vitamin C and vitamin B6 in a refreshing lemon & lime formula. Designed to be taken during or after exercise, this 300 g powder provides 5.6 g of BCAAs per serving alongside evidence-backed nutrients that support normal energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are a group of three essential amino acids — leucine, isoleucine and valine — that the body cannot produce on its own. Unlike other amino acids, BCAAs are metabolised mainly in skeletal muscle rather than the liver. Leucine, in particular, is well-recognised in the scientific literature as a key trigger for muscle protein synthesis, with clinical studies often using doses around 2–3 g per serving to stimulate a measurable response (PubMed ID: 28515025).

Citrulline malate is the amino acid L-citrulline bound to malic acid; it has no authorised health claim. In Amino Acid Multi, citrulline malate is included at a level of approximately 1 g per serving, which is a moderate dose intended to complement the BCAA profile rather than serve as a standalone ergogenic aid.

Each 8 g serving (one flat scoop) provides:

• L-Leucine – 2.8 g
• L-Isoleucine – 1.4 g
• L-Valine – 1.4 g
• L-Citrulline Malate – 0.94 g
• Vitamin C – 37.6 mg (47% NRV)
• Vitamin B6 – 0.96 mg (69% NRV)
• Dextrose, natural flavouring, natural colour (turmeric extract), sweetener (sucralose), acidity regulator (citric acid)

Total BCAAs per serving: 5.6 g. The ratio of leucine to isoleucine and valine is approximately 2:1:1, which aligns with the ratio most commonly used in clinical research on muscle protein synthesis and exercise recovery.

Amino Acid Multi was formulated with a focus on practical, evidence-informed dosing. The 2:1:1 BCAA ratio is one of the most studied in sports nutrition, with leucine taking the lead as the primary anabolic signal. The inclusion of vitamin B6 and vitamin C is not incidental — both nutrients have authorised health claims under the UK Nutrition and Health Claims Register. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, while vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Citrulline malate was added at a dose that complements the BCAA profile without overwhelming the formula. The lemon & lime flavour, achieved with natural flavouring and a small amount of turmeric extract for colour, makes the powder easy to mix and pleasant to drink during or after exercise. Dextrose provides a small amount of carbohydrate to aid palatability and may help with the absorption of amino acids, though the total carbohydrate per serving is low.

Under the UK Nutrition and Health Claims Register, the following authorised health claims apply to the vitamins in Amino Acid Multi:

• Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal homocysteine metabolism, normal protein and glycogen metabolism, normal psychological function, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and the normal function of the immune system.
• Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth; normal energy-yielding metabolism; normal function of the immune system; the protection of cells from oxidative stress; and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

The review noted that leucine content appears to be a key factor, with doses of 2 g or more per serving showing the most consistent benefits.

Citrulline malate has been studied primarily for its effects on exercise performance and perceived exertion.

Mix one flat scoop (8 g) of powder with 250 ml of water or juice. Consume during or after exercise. Do not exceed one serving per day. Because the powder may settle during transit and storage, weighing the serving with a food scale is recommended for the most accurate measure. If you do not have a scale, use the scoop provided and level it off with a knife or spatula.

Amino Acid Multi is not a meal replacement. It is designed to be used alongside a balanced diet that meets your overall protein and energy needs.

Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Keep the lid tightly closed after each use. Do not use if the inner seal is damaged or missing. The best before date is printed on the base of the pot.

Amino Acid Multi is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is Halal approved. The product is made in the UK to GMP quality standards, in a facility that handles a wide range of ingredients, but the formula itself does not contain gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, egg, fish, shellfish, tree nuts or peanuts. Always check the label for the most current allergen information.

Amino Acid Multi is intended for healthy adults who engage in regular physical activity. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition (particularly kidney or liver disease), or are taking medication, consult a healthcare professional before use. Individuals with maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) should avoid BCAA supplements entirely. As with any supplement, discontinue use if you experience any adverse effects.

For those looking to build a more comprehensive supplement routine, Amino Acid Multi can be combined with other products from the Vitadefence range:

• Creatine Multi — a recovery shake that contains creatine monohydrate, protein and carbohydrate. Read more in the Creatine Multi guide.
• Hemp Protein Multi — protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass. Ideal for post-exercise meals or snacks. See the Hemp Protein Multi guide for details.
• L-Glutamine — a single amino acid powder, 100 g. Learn more in the L-Glutamine guide.

Can I take Amino Acid Multi on rest days?

Yes. Taking it on rest days still provides vitamins B6 and C. One serving per day is the maximum recommended dose.

Is this a complete protein source?

No. Amino Acid Multi contains only three essential amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine) plus citrulline malate. It does not provide all nine essential amino acids required for complete protein synthesis. It is best used as a targeted supplement alongside whole food protein sources or a complete protein powder like Hemp Protein Multi.

Can I take it with other supplements?

Yes. Amino Acid Multi can be taken alongside other Vitadefence products such as Creatine Multi and L-Glutamine. However, we recommend checking total vitamin intakes if you are taking other vitamin-containing supplements. The amounts of vitamin C (37.6 mg) and vitamin B6 (0.96 mg) per serving are modest and well within safe upper limits.

Does it need to be taken with food?

Not necessarily. Amino Acid Multi can be taken on its own mixed with water. However, consuming it alongside a meal that contains carbohydrates may enhance amino acid uptake and muscle protein synthesis. The small amount of dextrose in the formula provides a minimal carbohydrate source.

How long does one pot last?

Each pot contains 42 servings of 8 g. If taken once daily, one pot lasts approximately six weeks.

The sweetness is provided by sucralose, a non-nutritive sweetener that does not affect blood sugar levels.

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. While it is not a complete protein source, it serves a specific role in a targeted supplement routine — particularly when paired with a balanced diet and other evidence-based products like Creatine Multi or Hemp Protein Multi.
